Healing the Heartbreak

of Lies, Betrayal & Dissolutionment

Kosi was led to Gangaji, a well-known student of HWL Poonja, on the wings of a prayer. The relationship that evolved between Ganagaji and Kosi over many years was, and is, divinely ordained. It is impossible for any human being to describe or even fully comprehend the nature of this relationship—divinity does not operate or think in human terms. This relationship was sacred before Kosi even met face-to-face with Gangaji—it was a divine destiny. This relationship was simply never casual or laissez-faire—it was an intense fiery dance that ignited the moment their eyes kissed in the sanctity of satsang—but this holy dance has a very different purpose than either Gangaji or Kosi realized over twenty years ago in July of 2001 when they were first introduced.

This Naṭarāja, dance of Siva, was meant for a totally unexpected and shocking purpose—to expose the corrupt teaching of HWL Poonja, better known as Papaji. His teaching represents the most honest lie ever spoken destine to lead thousands into superficial trance states and the well-documented and egregious sexual, physical, psychological, and financial abuse of power perpetrated by his students. To heal this heartbreak the truth must be told to let it be known worldwide, that Papaji and his teaching are corrupt. This was not his intention, but his reckless impatience led to the severe abuse of power by his students. It is important for everyone to understand that the teaching of HWL Poonja is not at all the same as the life and teaching of Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi. As it has been written and has been said, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.” The proverbial ‘fruit’ of Papaji, sadly, is rotten to the core—it is corrupt.

In May of 2011, Kosi’s relationship with Gangaji dramatically and suddenly ended through the love, grace, and compassion of her Holiness Sri Amma Karuanamyi—the saint and avatar whose birth was prophesized by Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi. In spite of the intense pain of the betrayal described in detail below, Kośi sponsored a Yagya—an ancient fire ceremony (actual ceremony depicted above) to honor her relationship with Gangaji and the many years of support she received from her. This sacred fire ceremony also anointed the beginning of her divinely ordained relationship with Sri Amma Karunamyi whose presence and wisdom transcends human understanding. This ceremony was conducted in October of 2011 on the banks of the Ganga river in Varanasi India not far from where the Kosi river converges with the sacred river Ganga.

It is important for everyone to understand that Gangaji, the Gangaji Foundation, Gangaji’s husband, and so-called inner circle intentionally propagated slanderous gossip, blatant lies, and innuendo through social media and other platforms as well as in clandestine secret meetings with a select few with the explicit intention of destroying the reputation and credibility of a student. This egregious abuse of power represents a heartbreaking betrayal of the student-teacher relationship and more importantly, serves to demonstrate the utter failure and corruption of the teaching of HWL Poonja (better known as Papaji) who is Gangaji’s self-proclaimed master. Only someone whose ego is very much alive would engage in the manipulative malevolence initiated directly by Gangaji with the sole intention to undermine and intentionally attempt to destroy the reputation of a deeply devoted student of Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi.

It is, however, most unfortunate that the very nature and intention of slander is that it invariably sticks to the person who is slandered like gum on a shoe even when facts are presented that prove their innocence. The person who slanders is often a master manipulator and liar who hides behind a facade of self-appointed authority and is almost never held accountable for their egregious actions—Gangaji is no exception. Her insidious lies were intentional and meant solely to mislead and manipulate many people into believing her perspective. Shockingly, most people were, and continue to be, so entranced by her lies they overlook Gangaji’s gaslighting and callous disregard for the intense pain she was inflicting on her student—a classic pattern of behavior often described as Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).

From a worldly perspective, this is really horrendous news, but from the perspective of the divine, it is the best news ever—a new gospel is born. Kosi has always viewed this entire drama as a profound shift in consciousness that ignited a deep, albeit excruciatingly painful, intimate inquiry and years of research. As Kosi says, “Gangaji’s profound introduction to Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi was a great gift. But the greatest gift of all was her lies.” You see, it was the lies of Gangaji and the intense pain this evoked that led Kosi into a deep unwavering exploration of the real nature of Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi and his master Sri Arunachala Siva and the life-changing ancient yogas it represents. If wasn’t for Gangaji’s betrayal this investigation most likely would never have unfolded.

After many years of direct inquiry, realizations, and research it is crystal clear that the teaching of Papaji is corrupt—and will never result in moksha—liberation from the karmic wheel of suffering known as the great wandering of samsara. His emphasis on the absolute truth led to his assertion that moksha was instant and effortless spawning what has been coined the Neo-Advaita Satsang Movement. His quintessential teaching of “No teacher, no student, no teaching. This is the teaching!” is extremely seductive to both the ignorance and arrogance of the western mind. It is an exceedingly dangerous teaching that inflates the ego and generates trance states or loops of reflective consciousness that do not resolve karmic or genetic tendencies essential for moksha. This can, and has, led to extreme violence, abuse, and the well-documented aberrant behavior of Papaji students—that has even led to the recent suicide of a few of their students—the heartbreak of heartbreaks. Shockingly, this abuse continues unabated, which will only lead to more intense suffering—the antithesis of even their so-called teaching!

It is most unfortunate, that this immature and shallow perspective is often perceived to be of great value by many people since it seems to generate the highly sought-after intense euphoria of bliss states that can last for hours, days, and even weeks, which are often misconstrued by the naive onlooker as “signs” of awakening, enlightenment, and liberation that have been smushed together into an intellectual concept and often described as instant enlightenment or the spiritual bypass of immediate moksha. To be perfectly clear—the teaching of Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi is direct, but not instant. His teaching is an extremely advanced ancient yoga well documented in his signature scriptures: Who am I? (Nan Yar), Self-inquiry, The Ramana Gita and the Marital Garland of Letters. The practices described in detail in these four succinct documents as well as the ancient Vedic Scripture and Upanishads contain the silent transmission, the mantra, and the practices essential for moksha

The life, eternal presence, and teaching of Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi is Sanatana dharma—the eternal natural way transcendent of time and space. The sadhana (practice)—known as the art of letting go—recommended by the real eternal master Sri Sri Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi and his beloved master Sri Sri Sri Arunachala Siva—has the power to set you free—only if you are willing to study, contemplate, and practice continuously (integrate the practices into your life)—the sacred fire essential for moksha will ignite.

Watch attentively and very carefully—if Gangaji ever reads this page—it will not be at all surprising if she attempts to contort, twist, and manipulate what is written here to support her perspective yet again. She has a long history and reputation of being a well-camouflaged master liar, linguistic acrobat, and loquacious magician—with the power to seduce, manipulate, and control you with the trance-inducing power of her voice. This is a warning to the wise—stay awake!

The purpose of this page is to tell the inconvenient truth about the very serious limitations and corruption that have led to severe abuse. This is not meant to judge, but rather to be a catalyst for healing and is a loud warning to every one of the dangers of pursuing the teaching of HWL Poonja (Papaji) or other people who claim similar methods and practices with no real experience, lineage, or initiation.

This article is meant to be a prayer and catalyst for healing this global heartbreak as well as a transmission of the healing compassion, grace, and love of her Holiness Sri Amma Karunamayi to facilitate the immediate healing of the burning heartbreak this has been for both Gangaji and Kosi.
